Sod is officially cut on exciting new Cambridge development

PhotoAs part of our ongoing commitment to create great places where people aspire to live, David Thomas recently cut the first sod at our new Darwin Green development in Cambridge following the start of construction at the end of August. He was joined by directors of our Eastern Counties division alongside Cllr David Bard, Chairman of the Joint Development Control Committee at Cambridge City Council.

Construction started on Darwin Green on the 21 August, with enabling works taking place to clear the site of vegetation and install a perimeter fence. The site will start taking shape over the course of the next few months.

Photo 2David Thomas said: “We are delighted to have officially cut the first sod at Darwin Green following a successful start to construction. As a five star housebuilder we look forward to building a new community as well as much needed, high quality new homes.”

Rob Holbrook, Managing Director of Eastern Counties, said: “We are pleased to have had Cllr David Bard to Darwin Green to officially cut the sod. Darwin Green will begin to take shape over the next year. As an award winning homebuilder we are committed to Cambridgeshire and Darwin Green will bring significant investment to the local area as well as new properties and facilities.”

As part of the planning agreement for the development, over £30 million will be contributed to the local authority and used to support services and improve facilities for new and existing residents. The development process also underpins over 3,000 local jobs. As we predominately employs local sub-contractors and tradesmen, the local economy will benefit directly from the new jobs supported.
